“According to Mary Cardello, an associate at GTM Architects, the Crooked Run design team found additional inspiration from two sources. Scandinavian design influenced the colors and finishes, including warm wood tones in the furniture and copper tones elsewhere. German and Belgian beer houses inspired the general flow and open feel of the space, as well as key lighting elements… “Everything is oriented around [the bar],” Cardello says. “As you start your experience from the exterior, from the sidewalk in the neighborhood, we really wanted to capture and draw you in.”” Read more at restaurant development + design magazine #architecture #design #resaurantdesign #districtofcolumbia #commercialarchitecture #brewery #gtmarchitects

What a wonderful time celebrating the authors and contributors of the Smithsonian Institution’s 6th Edition © 2024 of Washington on Foot! Pictured from left to right: GTM’s Coleman McLaurin, Megan Davey, AIA, Stephen Santos, Assoc. AIA, with the editor and gracious host of the celebration, Bill Bonstra, FAIA, LEED AP. Stephen & Coleman collaborated on Cleveland Park, Woodley Park, and Cathedral Heights, while Megan worked on the Union Market chapter. Former The Catholic University of America architecture professors Judith Meany & Bill Bonstra invited these CUArch graduates to contribute on four chapters in this edition, which consists of 24 walking tours of DC neighborhoods complete with maps, architectural illustrations, and a wealth of history on the evolution of each featured neighborhood. Congratulations on being a part of the new edition! #staffappreciation #teamculture #collaboration #kudos #celebratesuccess #memories #architecture #interiordesign #gtmarchitects

Do you recognize these extraordinary women? Hint: They are all Howard University alumni! Their images, along with others, will be digitally printed on 3form Varia panels as part of a feature wall at the new HU Alumni Office inside The Oliver project – a great collaboration between GTM Architects and GTM-DC. We cannot wait to see to see the final product! #3form #architecture #construction #design #districtofcolumbia #interiordesign #teamcollaboration #womenleadership #gtmarchitects FYI: (clockwise from top left) Kamala Harris, Toni Morrison, Patricia Bath, and Phylicia Rashad.
