Rockville, MD – Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce (MCCC) hosted the launch of Montgomery County Government’s new Business Portal. The portal is a result of input from members of the business community. The county responded with the creation of the portal to help local businesses establish themselves and grow in Montgomery County. The launch of the portal symbolizes a great collaboration between the business community and the local government. The portal contains starter packs for small businesses, information on government departments, how to manage a business, laws and regulations, how to obtain licenses, and much more. The portal will adopt as more needs are uncovered by the business community. The press conference began with introductions from President and CEO of MCCC Georgette “Gigi” Godwin, which followed with remarks from Montgomery County Executive Isiah Leggett, County Council President Roger Berliner, and members of the County Executive's Economic Advisory Group. Representatives from the Montgomery County Business Coalition, including local chambers of commerce, and business organizations also attended the launch. “Businesses can find it overwhelming to figure out which offices to contact for operating in the County or for updated information that would impact their businesses,” said Leggett. “The Business Portal addresses this need by serving as a gateway to all information and resources related to doing business in Montgomery County. This is an exciting step toward improving access and transparency for businesses – and just one more way we are making Montgomery County more business-friendly.” Reinforcing Leggett’s remarks, Godwin says “The portal is an incredible way to encourage business in our county. I am extremely proud of our county government for hearing what the business community was asking for, and am looking forward to more future collaboration.” The portal is available at: www.montgomerycountymd.gov/biz -end- About The Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce: The Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce (MCCC) provides an effective voice to ensure business success.
