CONCENTRA OPENS NEW MEDICAL CENTER IN GAITHERSBURG, MD

Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich, Maryland Senate President Bill Ferguson, and Gaithersburg Mayor Jud Ashman to mark occasion

GAITHERSBURG, Maryland – Concentra®, (NYSE: CON) the nation’s leader in occupational medicine, today announced the opening of its newest Montgomery County location in Gaithersburg, Maryland, at 733 S. Frederick Avenue in the Walnut Hill Shopping Center. The new, nearly 10,000 square foot state-of-the-art medical center replaces an older location just a mile away on Russell Avenue and offers modern digital X-ray equipment, additional exam rooms, and space for the entire care team on one floor. The clinic will also offer orthopedic specialist hours onsite, FAA exams, travel health exams, immigration, and more. The new location is designed to minimize wait times while increasing the number of patients receiving care.

On Thursday, November 6, local government, business, and civic leaders will gather for a grand opening lunch reception beginning at noon. The brief speaking program will include remarks from the following and close with a ceremonial ribbon cutting.

We diagnose and treat work-related injuries much more effectively than most primary care physicians,” said Concentra Director of Medical Dr. Sean Duffy. “We’re up to date on federal and state regulations for workforce health and safety, including Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Department of Transportation (DOT), and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), so we can make the best treatment plans and perform regulatory examinations. Because of our training and expertise, we are well equipped to manage costs in a way that other physicians are not,” he added.

Please join us for a workforce housing law discussion hosted by the Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce’s Infrastructure and Land Use Committee.

This session will focus on the More Housing N.O.W. (New Options for Workers) legislative package, recently passed the Montgomery County Council. The initiative introduces new strategies to expand workforce housing, repurpose underutilized office space for residential use, and create additional pathways to homeownership.

Councilmember Andrew Friedson, one of the lead sponsors of the workforce housing legislation, will provide introductory remarks, followed by an in-depth briefing from Lisa Govoni (Policy Supervisor, Design, Placemaking & Policy Division) and Atul Sharma (Chief, Design, Placemaking & Policy Division) of Montgomery Planning.

Key topics include an overview of the More Housing N.O.W., where and how the new workforce housing zoning laws apply, and implications for land use, development, and planning.

The Infrastructure and Land Use Development Committee convenes regularly to provide MCCC members with timely insights and opportunities to engage on land use and infrastructure issues shaping the region’s business environment.

Join the MCCC Government Relations Committee for our monthly meetings, where we dive into the key policy issues shaping Montgomery County’s business environment. These sessions offer valuable insights into legislative developments at both the County and State levels and provide a platform for you to help influence decisions that directly impact our local business community.

Our guest speaker for this meeting is Council President Kate Stewart, who represents District 4 on the Montgomery County Council. Elected in 2022, she has served as Council President since December 2024. She also chairs the Government Operations and Fiscal Policy Committee and the Audit Committee and serves as a member of the Transportation and Environment Committee. Council President Stewart will discuss her key policy priorities, talk about what’s next for the Council, and reflect on her year as Council President.

The Government Relations Committee meets weekly during the Legislative Session of the Maryland General Assembly. During the interim, the Committee meets on the second Thursday of each month. These meetings provide MCCC members with opportunities to learn, discuss, and engage on a variety of policy issues that are impacting the regional business community.
