April is significant for many reasons – flowers in bloom, warmer weather and one step closer to summer – and at Exelon, April also marks the cherished tradition of National Volunteer Month. As a child, I was taught that we are blessed to be a blessing to others. Throughout this month, the Exelon community is finding ways to help others. The Public Policy and External Affairs (PPEA) team hosted events across the enterprise, with the strong support of our Baltimore Gas and Electric, ComEd, PECO and Pepco Holdings colleagues. At the heart of these activities lies a central theme – uplifting women and families most in need. When we uplift women, we uplift families. Fifty-five team members volunteered time at N Street Village in Washington, DC, PathWays PA in Philadelphia, Sarah's Circle in Chicago and Paul's Place, Inc. in Baltimore, where we helped with meal services and “shopping” for those in need of clothing, cleaned out closets and helped with outdoor repairs, all with organizations dedicated to empowering women and families in the communities we serve. Thank you to the team for joining me in these meaningful service events. #NationalVolunteerMonth

What a way to round out Women’s History Month! It was a true honor to share the Pepco Holdings Gallery stage with Phylicia Rashad – acclaimed actor, singer, director and Dean of the Howard University Chadwick Boseman College of Fine Arts. Words can’t do justice to describe our time with her! Her iconic depiction of Clair Huxtable was an inspiration to so many, including a little girl from Arkansas who was able to envision the possibility of pouring into your family while having a thriving legal career – such a powerful example. Dean Rashad lit up the room with incredible humility, poise, grace and power – while encouraging those gathered to explore and share their own light. Thank you to the Pepco chapter of the Network of Exelon Women for organizing this wonderful event, and for this honor. Congratulations on your powerful series of programs in recognition of Women’s History Month.

Leading the energy transformation is all about innovation – which is why I couldn’t be prouder to celebrate our Atlantic City Electric, Delmarva Power and Pepco teams at the Pepco Holdings Innovator of the Year Award ceremony. The team members and projects we honored are driving the innovations that allow us to lead the way for a cleaner, brighter, and more equitable future for the communities we serve. They are improving our internal processes, our performance measurements and our customer service. A few team highlights include: ·  The Edison Place Audience Favorite, a project that enhanced our State Estimator and Contingency Analysis to help operators to maintain situational awareness for unexpected events. ·  The Atlantic Regional Audience Favorite, which created an intern playbook to help interns have a better understanding of our strategy planning of the grid to engage them on the project management team. Not only did the effort bring fresh thinking to the team, it helps increase intern engagement and job offer acceptance as we build the energy workforce of the future. ·  The Delmarva Power Audience Favorite, which created a centralized regulatory resource center to allow for a visual tracking system toward the progress of our goals. ·  Innovation Excellence Award, a project from our Transmission and Substation team that allows crews to scan device barcodes while in the field, which is then stored in a database to increase efficiency, avoid importer installations and reduces troubleshooting. Congratulations to our winners – and thank you to Kaiser Yang for your inspirational words to our team about the power of micro-innovations, and for reminding us that innovations don’t need to be big to make a significant difference.

It was an absolute pleasure to hear from Democratic House Leader Hon. Hakeem Jeffries at the Edison Electric Institute Spring Board of Directors and Chief Executive Meeting. Here are my three takeaways from an informative and inspiring talk: · Rep. Jeffries underscored what we at Pepco Holdings already know – the incredibly crucial role utilities play in supporting climate solutions. We are providing the necessary infrastructure for a cleaner, brighter and more equitable future. · He had an interesting take on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, noting that it’s not limited to just a social justice initiative. It’s much more than individual inclusion in our country – it’s an effort to support classic American values, and American competitiveness. · His strong support of the Inflation Reduction Act solidifies our industry’s importance to the energy transition, and the transformation of our country.    Thanks to Edison Electric Institute for this opportunity to get together, and for Rep Jeffries for the inspiring words!
