Recap: Women in Education - The Rise and Fall of Mental Wellbeing Joined on the panel with Kheia Hilton Danielle Hilton, Camille A. Thompson from American University | Washington College of Law, and Dr. Jessica Desalu, Licensed Clinical Psychologist, who joined me from T2FH at the University Of Shady Grove. Here are some key takeaways from our discussion: 1. 💪 Recognizing Signs of Wellbeing: I encouraged the audience to be vigilant about emotional detachment, physical symptoms, and an overwhelming sense of exhaustion as telltale signs of burnout. By acknowledging these indicators early on, individuals can take proactive steps to safeguard their mental health and prevent further decline. 2. 🌍 Strategies for Rejuvenation: Camille emphasized the importance of simple yet effective strategies such as getting organized, leaning on support systems, practicing positive thinking, and disconnecting from draining influences can help women reclaim their mental health and vitality. 3. 🌟 Prioritizing Wellbeing: Jessica emphasized the critical importance of prioritizing self-care and mental health in navigating the demanding landscape of education. She highlighted the need for setting clear boundaries, breaking free from detrimental stigmas, and establishing personal standards that promote self-support. 🤝 Prioritizing Self-Care and Support: Kheia identified integrity and authenticity as non-negotiable values in her career, emphasizing the importance of personal principles in shaping one's professional identity, encouraging to prioritize self-care and seek support to navigate the highs and lows while safeguarding your mental wellbeing. 💬 Share your experiences and strategies for prioritizing mental wellbeing or discuss how you've supported others in maintaining their mental health as an ally. hashtag #MentalWellbeing hashtag #Education hashtag #SelfCare hashtag #Support hashtag #BurnoutAwareness hashtag #WellnessStrategies

Did you know that healthcare workers, especially now, are facing challenges on multiple fronts? One of the most pressing areas of concern is their mental health and wellbeing. It seems that the demands of their profession are often overwhelming, leaving little room for self-care. And if they're struggling, society often suggests that there's something lacking in their ability to cope. We've somehow normalized ignoring the mental health struggles of our healthcare workers. How did we arrive at this point? This isn't an argument against dedication to their profession. If they're dedicated healthcare workers, that's admirable. But I have a message for those in the healthcare field who are struggling: 👉🏾 Your wellbeing is paramount. 👉🏾 Your value and worth are not dependent on your ability to handle everything alone. 👉🏾 You are deserving of support and care, both from within the profession and outside of it. 👉🏾 And if you're feeling overwhelmed, it's okay to seek help and prioritize your own mental health. Is it tough? Absolutely! But you're doing important work. And that deserves recognition. I want you to know that regardless of the challenges you face, it's time for a revolutionary shift in how we support our healthcare workers – not as an afterthought, but as a fundamental aspect of our healthcare system. 🔥 Support each other. 🔥 Prioritize self-care. 🔥 Advocate for systemic changes. 🔥 Embrace the idea that your wellbeing matters. Your health and wellness matter, and it's time to start prioritizing them without stigma or judgment. 🖤 Help spread awareness by sharing this post. So you've been told you can handle stress at work. But what happens when you're the one who needs support? It's a common scenario for many women. You're expected to carry the weight of everyone else's while silently battling your own stress. That’s not a healthy way to live.... You deserve a safe space to share your struggles without judgment and support to prioritize your own well-being. And it’s OKAY to admit it..... If you're ready to break free from the 'deal with it and push through' label , focus on your own needs for a change.... Send me a message!! I’ve got some exciting things coming up this spring 🖤 This week, creating safe spaces for workforce wellbeing.
