FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: NOVEMBER 13, 2018 MONTGOMERY COUNTY CHAMBER OF COMMERCE STATEMENT ON AMAZON’S SELECTION OF SECOND HEADQUARTERS LOCATION Montgomery County is now poised to attract other great companies to the area ROCKVILLE, MD, November 13, 2018 – Today, Amazon announced its decision to split its second headquarters into two locations: Crystal City, Virginia, and Long Island City, New York. While we would have hoped Amazon would choose Montgomery County, we believe that the selection of nearby Crystal City will have long-lasting, positive economic impacts for the entire Washington Metropolitan Area. Furthermore, the selection process has demonstrated that Maryland and Montgomery County are well prepared and well positioned to recruit other great employers. Montgomery County was on Amazon’s list of the top 20 preferred locations for their second headquarters, which included areas in Northern Virginia and the District of Columbia. This is a testament to the economic strength and vitality of our region. We were encouraged by the ability of our state and local elected leaders to mobilize and jointly develop an attractive incentive package to recruit Amazon. We look forward to continuing this work to attract companies of all sizes to our county. ### For more information, please contact: Tricia Swanson, Vice President, Government Relations (301) 738-0015 ext. 216, tswanson@montgomerycountychamber.com
